Ally is an accessibility tool integrated into Canvas. For students, Ally provides alternative formats of native Canvas content and most documents shared through Canvas. For faculty, Ally scans for and provides instructions on addressing common accessibility issues found in documents and images* uploaded to Canvas.
Ally also currently scans for common issues in native Canvas content but does not provide adequate tools or instructions for addressing issues found in native Canvas content. For addressing issues in native Canvas content, please use the Universal Design Online Content Inspection Tool (UDOIT) Accessibility Check tool and/or the native Canvas Accessibility Checker tool in your Canvas sites.
*While Ally provides tools for adding Alt Text to image files, the Alt Text entered through Ally is not saved in Canvas and will be lost if the university switches to another accessibility tool. Please use the UDOIT Accessibility Check tool and/or the native Canvas Accessibility Checker tool in your Canvas sites to add Alt Text to embedded images in Canvas content.
